LATEST COVID VACCINATION BOOKING ADVICE AND PLEA NOT TO TELEPHONE THE PRACTICE Posted on 20 Jan 2021

We have become aware that a very large number of our patients are now receiving letters from NHS England advising them that they are able to book COVID vaccination appointments at a number of large vaccination super sites in either Norwich, Bedford or Boston. These can be booked on line or by telephoning the relevant telephone number as per the instructions in the letter.  PLEASE DO NOT RING THE PRACTICE TO ENQUIRE ABOUT COVID VACCINATION APPOINTMENT BOOKING.

Our practice is providing vaccination services for our patient population at Springfields Events Centre in Spalding along with 12 other local practices who have come together to be able to provide the service for patients in the South Holland area.  This is because of the conditions required to store the Pfizer vaccine as individual practices do not have adequate cold storage facilities to be able to administer the Pfizer vaccine in their own individual practices. It is hoped that once practices begin to receive supplies of the Oxford vaccine that we may be able to deliver a number of the vaccines in our local practices at some point in the near future.

We are currently working our way through inviting the relevant Cohorts of patients and we are currently vaccinating the over 80's, frontline Healthcare Workers and local Care Homes and their staff members.  We hope to be moving on to invite other cohorts of our patient population shortly.  We are though only able to move forward within the cohorts at a pace which is defined by the delivery of the vaccines to our South Lincolnshire practice hub at Springfields.  Whilst the supply of vaccines to Lincolnshire has been very limited so far, we have been reassured that we have now been made a priority and that supplies will increase significantly, which in turn will allow us to be able to invite more of our patients for vaccination at our designated vaccination site in Spalding.

We would like to ask our patients to please note the following to help us with our COVID vaccination campaign in the meantime:
PLEASE DO NOT RING THE SURGERY REGARDING COVID VACCINATION QUERIES OR FOR APPOINTMENT BOOKINGS - OUR TELEPHONE LINES ARE CURRENTLY OVERWHELMED BECAUSE OF THIS AND WE ARE STRUGGLING TO DELIVER URGENT PATIENT CARE.
WE ARE CURRENTLY CONTACTING OUR PATIENTS BY TELEPHONE TO MAKE BOOKINGS FOR COVID VACCINATIONS AT OUR VACCINATION SITE IN SPALDING.  PLEASE BE PATIENT AND WAIT FOR US TO CONTACT YOU.  WE WILL CONTACT EVERYONE IN DUE COURSE.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ONE OF THE LARGER NHS VACCINATION CENTRES THEN PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE PRACTICE BUT FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF HOW TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WHICH IS CONTAINED IN THE LETTER. ALTHOUGH WE ADVISED PATIENTS AT THE WEEKEND TO CONTACT THE PRACTICE IF THEY HAD RECEIVED A LETTER WE WERE ARE THAT TIME UNAWARE THAT THE LETTERS HAD BEEN CIRCULATED BY NHS ENGLAND AND WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT WHETHER THE LETTERS HAD BEEN SENT FROM AN OFFICIAL SOURCE.  NOW THAT THIS HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANYONE WHO RECEIVES THE LETTERS TO CONTACT THE PRACTICE.  HOWEVER, WE ASK PATIENTS TO CONTINUE TO BE VIGILANT AS WE ARE AWARE OF A NUMBER OF SCAMS WHEREBY PATIENTS ARE BEING INVITED TO HAVE A VACCINE AND ARE BEING ASKED TO PROVIDE PAYMENT FOR THIS.  NOONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A VACCINE - VACCINES WILL BE SUPPLIED FREE TO ALL PATIENTS AND ARE ONLY AVAILABLE VIA AUTHORISED NHS SITES.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU HAVE YOUR FIRST COVID VACCINATION IN EITHER NORWICH, BEDFORD, OR BOSTON, OR AT ANY OTHER VACCINATION CENTRE, THEN YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO ATTEND THE SAME SITE FOR YOUR SECOND COVID VACCINATION AS WE WILL BE UNABLE TO DO THIS FOR YOU AT EITHER OUR SPALDING SITE , OR IN THE PRACTICE.

We appreciate that the recent letters which have been circulated to patients from NHS England have caused a great deal of confusion for practices and for our patients, however hopefully now that the information is much clearer to us all we hope that things will settle down a little for all concerned, and that we can all be assured that the vaccination will be on offer to us all one way or another. Hopefully too our telephone lines can now be accessed for all other urgent patient needs, and are not blocked with COVID vaccination realtead queries going forward.

We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to seeing you either at our vaccination centre, or in our practices very soon.  Please remember in the meantime to following the government guidelines to keep us all as safe as possible.  HANDS, FACE, SPACE!

With our very best wishes,
Suttons Medical Group
